My Chinese name is 
. My family name, "XIE", means "Thanking"; and my first name,
"Jinxing", means "Golden Star" or "Venus". I really should thank God
for giving me so much till now.
I was born in the countryside in Central China's
Hubei Province, a beautiful place with many rivers and lakes. During my
childhood, I walked along country roads and enjoyed myself with the
interesting country life day after day.
I came to Department of Applied Mathematics, Tsinghua University, Beijing to study
for my degrees in 1984. After I got my PhD in 1995, I became a faculty at Department of Mathematical Sciences, Tsinghua University.
